My passion is music, and I currently teach the flute studio at Idaho State University and play Principal Flute with the Idaho State Civic Symphony Orchestra. I also teach Flute Ensemble, Elementary Music Methods, and Music and the Humanities at Brigham Young University-Idaho. Prior to moving to Idaho, I taught the flute studio at Colorado Mesa University and played with the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra and the Western Colorado Flute Choir. In addition to my classical flute studies, I enjoy playing the Irish flute and Highland Bagpipes.
My Bachelor of Music degree is in flute performance from Brigham Young University in Provo, where I studied with Elizabeth Weissman. I then earned a Master of Music degree in flute performance from Arizona State University, studying with Trygve Peterson and Liz Buck. I am also certificated in the Kodály Method of teaching from the Organization of American Kodály Educators.
Photography is my second passion, and I have a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in photography from Brigham Young University-Idaho. I specialize in portrait photography, but I also love historical photographic processes. My favorite is tricolor gum printing, and I make it a priority to spend time every day working in this medium.
